Integrate With Your VLE!
With the growing number of repositories, content management systems, Virtual Learning Environments and a whole host of other online applications and services your college may use and subscribe to, it can be grueling for staff to not only learn how to use these applications with their different interfaces but also to remember login details like usernames and passwords which are often completely different for each.
Learning resources and e-learning tools are supposed to be ‘just a click away’, but in reality the process to access these can be so daunting and time consuming that staff don’t bother at all in the end.
Open Passport and Customisation are two new services available from FENC that have been developed to help colleges increase usage of their online accounts in order to maximise value for money.
Our authentication service, ‘Open Passport’ has been designed to allow all staff within an organisation to use their existing VLE log in details to seamlessly link to their FENC online account. The functionality works online and remotely so there are no additional overheads for you to make use of this service.
We can also customise the look and feel of a college FENC account to look identical to any VLE interface a college is using. This used in conjunction with the Open Passport service will make staff feel that their FENC account is an integrated part of the VLE they are using. This can not only dramatically increase staff usage, but also breaks down significant barriers during staff training because users feel they are learning to use just their VLE and not a completely separate repository or online content management system as well.
Customers considering the use of Microsoft’s ‘Sharepoint’ are also taking a second look at the functionality they can use within their secure FENC online content management system which not only has unlimited storage capacity but of course is already populated with over 30,000 student learning hours of resources.
Organisations using these services are already seeing clear benefits and as they are completely FREE to full licence holders, we really urge you to contact us if you have not already done so.
